Our restoration and build Process

A Disciplined Approach to Building Exceptional Vehicles

Every vehicle that enters Unique Customs follows a deliberate, documented process designed to protect quality, transparency, and outcome. We do not rush builds, skip steps, or shortcut craftsmanship.

Our process reflects how serious restoration and custom build work should be done.

Consultation and Project Fit

Every project begins with a consultation to determine alignment. We evaluate the vehicle, discuss goals, assess scope, and ensure expectations are realistic on both sides.

Not every project is the right fit — and that’s intentional.

This step allows us to:

Inspection and Planning

Once a project is accepted, we conduct a thorough inspection and begin planning the build in phases. This includes identifying structural issues, mechanical needs, and fabrication requirements that may not be visible at first glance.

Classic vehicles often reveal surprises — our planning process accounts for that reality.

Disassembly and Tear down

The vehicle is carefully disassembled to expose the true condition of the body, structure, and systems. This phase allows us to accurately assess rust, previous repairs, and hidden damage.

Proper tear down is critical to a correct restoration. Nothing is assumed.

Structural Repair and Fabrication

This phase forms the foundation of the build. Structural repairs, metal fabrication, and body shell work are completed to restore integrity, alignment, and original lines.

Rust remediation, panel reconstruction, and reinforcement are handled with precision to ensure the vehicle is sound before cosmetic work begins.

Bodywork and Paint

Once structural work is complete, bodywork and finishing begin. Panels are refined, surfaces are corrected, and paint systems are applied with attention to fit, finish, and longevity.

Whether period-correct or custom, paint is treated as a critical component — not an afterthought.

Mechanical Systems and Modernization

Engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspension, braking, electrical, and climate systems are rebuilt, restored, or upgraded during this phase.

From factory-correct mechanical restoration to carefully engineered modernization, all systems are integrated to function cohesively.

Interior, assembly, and Detailing

With major systems complete, final assembly begins. Interior components, trim, glass, and hardware are installed, aligned, and refined. Attention to detail during this stage defines the final outcome.

Nothing leaves our facility unfinished.

Quality Control And Final review

Before delivery, each vehicle undergoes comprehensive quality control checks. Fit, finish, performance, and system functionality are reviewed to ensure the build meets our standards.

Only when we are satisfied does the vehicle move to completion.

Communication and Transparency

Throughout the process, clients are kept informed of progress, findings, and milestones. Restoration and custom builds are complex — clear communication is essential.

We believe informed clients make better decisions and enjoy the build experience more fully.

Timelines and expectations

High-quality restoration and custom build work takes time. Factors such as vehicle condition, parts availability, fabrication complexity, and customization level all influence timelines.

We prioritize craftsmanship and correctness over speed.
